I recently found myself helping a lot people correctly obtain/reconfigure the URL from YouTube for thier MultiMedia Section of thier profile. Some of which have gone by other guides and still cannot do it themselves.

So I decided to make a guide, hopefully to better explain, by going step by step. Also using pictures as guides.

****Note: It's sad that I have to say this. Reading and following the pictures is the key. sweatdrop

Having problems, with the guide. Can't quite understand it. Then I recommend using Saikatsu's Video URL Converter -- This also converts Google Video's.

*When you look to the right, you should see this. (See Image Below)
*Now that you are there, you want to highlight and copy the "URL". (See Image Below)

Step #5 -- Old School Profile Shown

NEW PROFILES. PLEASE SKIP TO THE NEXT STEP. STEP #6!
*Now go back to Gaiaonline, Click My Gaia>Account Then Click Multimedia.
*Now paste the "URL" into the box (See Image Below)

DO NOT PRESS SUBMIT YET

Step #6 --Old School Profile Shown

*Now, erase "watch?" and replace the equal sign "=" with a forward slash "/ "
*The end product should look like the picture below.
*Make sure it looks silimar and press submit. If this is for the New Profile, Read the Next Step.

Step #7 -- For NEW Profile!

*Now that you have the correctly Editted URL as shown in Step #6, follow these steps:

Step 1

*First goto My Gaia>Profile -- Then click "Edit My Profile"

Step 2

*Now Click "Content"

Step 3

*Now Click "Media" -- Then press "x" to close the box

Step 4

*Now, click "Edit" on the Multimedia box.

Step 5

*Then enter the correctly editted URL.
*Now Press "Update".

Step 6

*To Save, click "View"

*Note: This will not Autoplay the video, It will provide a "Play Button". See the next steps to Autoplay.

To autoplay. After you have Changed the link properly as show above. Add "&autoplay=1" at the end of the url.

exclaim Old School Profile Only - If you want to hide your Multimedia Box, then put this CSS Code in your Theme Override Box (Not the Multimedia URL Box)

exclaim New Profile Only - If you want to hide your Multimedia Box, then put this CSS Code in your CSS Box. Can't Find it. Edit your New Profile, Click THEME, Then the CSS Tab. (Not the Multimedia URL Box)

BIG VIDEO IN NEW PROFILE FIX

Well now, to resize it. You'll need to copy and paste this in your CSS. (MY Gaia>Account>Theme).

.media_panel embed{width:480px; height:360px;}

Important Note for Mac users Using Safari

I figured out the answer to my own question, actually. My multimedia shows up bigger in Firefox, but not in Safari.

So to any users who surf with Apple's Safari browser:


In the New Profiles, Safari will not show the CSS override code that makes your multimedia bigger. So your multimedia will appear small when you view it, even if the code is right.

It should work fine in another browser.

YouTube Playlist
You cannot autoplay the playlist

Ok, first off. You will need to make an account at YouTube if you don't already have an account.

Then follow steps 1, 2 and 3 in the first post.
Which would bring us to step 4.

Step #4

*Once you found a video you like. Click "Save to Favorites"

Step #5

*Once you have all the video's you want. Click "My Playlist"

Step #6

*Now click "My Favorites" if it's not already there.

Step #7

*Now put a check next to the video's you want in the playlist.

Step #8

*Above, there is a drop down menu "Copy Video's To:" Click it and goto "New Playlist"

Step #9

*You will be asked to title the playlist and give it a description.

Step #10

*Once you have titled it and saved it. Copy the Permalink.

Step #11

*Paste the link into the Multimedia URL box. DO NOT PRESS SUBMIT YET.

Step #12

*Now, erase "view_play_list?" and replace the Equal Sign "=" with a forward slash "/"
*The end product should look similar to the link below.

Having Problems Converting the URL

Something easier. Take the Embed Code, and fish out the converted URL.
Example:

Photobucket Video

How to get photobucket video to work on your multimedia section.
Please read it all, even the bottom of the post if you are having problems.

Step 1

*First, you will have to sign into your photobucket account.
*Next, you will want to view your video clip by clicking on it.
*Now you will right-click on the screen and goto "View Page Source"
** For IE Users "View Source"

Step 2

*Now once the source window comes up. Click Edit> Find.
**Note: IE User, Notepad will come up showing the source.

Step 3

*Now that you box should appear, asking what to find.
*Type in .swf and click Find.

Step 4

*Now it has found the URL you are looking for "player.swf?file=/".
*Then highlight it and copy.

Step 5

*Now go back to the window that has the video displayed on it.
*Goto the URL, highlight "?action=view&current=" and ERASE it. Do Not Paste Yet.

Step 6

*Now put the cursor in front of "albums/".
*Next Right Click and Paste (or Crtl+V).
*The end result should look similar to this. (If it doesn't make sure it does)

Step 7

*Now copy the whole URL that you have modified.
*Next paste it into the Multimedia box, and submit.

In short.
1.You want to take your URL that looks like this:
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v61/Nemothe2nd/yttutorial/Photobucktutorial/?action=view&current=2-25-06-2.flv

2.Then Modify it to look like this. (By taking out "?action=view&current=" wink

3.Then Modify it once more by adding "player.swf?file=/" before "albums", the end result should look like this:

Photobucket Slideshow

How to get Photobucket Slideshow to work in your multimedia section. Providing you have already made one, I seem to only get questions from people that have already made them.

Step 1

*Ok, so you've already made your slideshow. Click to view it.
*It should take you to a screen with a URL and Embed Coding (As shown Below)
*Copy the Embed Coding.

Step 2

*The Embed Coding looks like this:

Bolt.com Video

Now obsolete. Bolt.com Went under.


How to get Bolt.com video's to work on your multimedia section.
Please read it all, even the bottom of the post if you are having problems.

Step 1

*First, head over to Bolt.com

Step 2

*Next, search for a video you want.

Step 3

*Once you have found the video, click it:

Step 4

*Now you should be viewing the video.
*Now you need to copy the "Embedded" Code, which can be found in two places. (See Images Below)

Step 5

*Now that you have copied the "Embedded" Code. Goto your Multimedia Section and Paste the code.
DO NOT PRESS SUBMIT/UPDATE YET!!!

Step 6

*Now, you have to edit the URL. The part highlighted below is all you need. (See Image) (If you are having trouble, please see the bottom of this post.)

Step 7

*The end product should look similar to this. If it does, then press Submit/Update.

This is basically it here. Ok take the "Embedded Code", and fish out the part you need. Shown below for clarification.

Please Note: The "P' in &autoPlay=1 MUST BE Captilized or will not work. It has to be exactly &autoPlay=1

Project Playlist Tutorial

Now contains coding specifically for Gaiaonline

Step 1 - Register

I generally get questions from users that have already established an account with Project Playlist. So, you don't really need a guide on this post, regardless, we all know how to sign up to sites. xd

Step 2 - Log into your account/Add music

*Once you've made an account. You'll log into it.
*Once you've logged in, you'll come to a page similar to this:


*Now, to add music. Click the link "Click Here to search for Music" (As shown below)


*Now, type in artist name, song title or both in the search field. (Shown below)

*To add the song to your playlist click the + button next to the song.
*When you add the song, you will come to a page like this: (If it works, click the "Yes it works" button)

*Now you'll come to page like this: (Click whichever applies to you)

Step 3 - Getting the URL

*So, you need to get the URL. Click "my account" located at the top of the page:


*Then Click "add to myspace".


*Now click "Get the code..."


*A bit redudant, but click the link "Get code for MySpace:


*Now, click the link to your Playlist:


*Now customize your Player and click the "Get Code" button:


*You'll come to a page with the embed coding.
*Now you'll need to take out the URL from all that code. (Shown in RED below)
